Game ReviewA large home crowd greeted the KSU Owls at their first game of the season. The game was played on January 30th at the "Owls Nest" on the campus of Kennesaw State University. Middle Tennessee State came out strong and played a tight first quarter staying with KSU. After some halftime adjustments the Owls exploded for 6 unanswered goals in the third quarter. 2008 SELC "Rookie of the Year", Scott Schulze led all scoring with 4 goals and 1 assist. Midfielder Charles Roland won 7 of 8 face-offs and added three goals. Veteran Tim Minick had 2 goals and 2 assists showing outstanding desire and effort throughout the entire game. Defensively, goalie Noah Rosenblum turned away 15 of 21 shots by the Blue Raiders. The defensive unit of the Owls played solid defensive throughout the second half allowing only two goals in the final thirty minutes. One point of concern for Head Coach Ken Byers was the 11 penalties, totaling 11:30 minutes in the "sin bin." KSU wishes the Blue Raiders success this season and hope their apply for full sanction within the SELC in 2010. Photos

Game ReviewThe KSU Owls handily defeated a depleted squad for UNC-Greensboro 19-1 on February 2, 2009. The Owls controlled the tempo of the game from the opening face-off against the Spartans. Leading the scoring for KSU was Scott Schulze (4 g and 3 a) and Tim Minick (3 g and 1a). Midfielder James Nassur had a hat trick during the contest. Defensively, goalies Noah Rosenblum and Scott Mathews turned away all shots but one. KSU played deep into their line up with all players seeing the field. KSU wishes the Spartans best of luck during the 2009 season. Photos

Game ReviewKSU continued its home field advantage over the visiting Bears from Mercer University 21-2 on February 8th. Leading the attack were Sott Schulze (3 goals/2 assists) and Tim Minick (4goals/1assist). The Owls came out hard and fast and never looked back in the contest. Defensively, goalie Scott Mathews looked very comfortable stopping 6 of 8 shots from the Bears. KSU ran its record to 3-0 and starts to be tested in the coming weeks by more talented teams form the SELC. Photos

Game ReviewThe Kennesaw State University Owls defeated the Georgia Southern University Eagles 16-4, Febraury 14th on the KSU soccer field. Leading the scoring were Tim Minick with 6 goals. SELC "Rookie of the Year" Scott Schulze produced 3 goals and 3 assisits. Defensively the Owls were led by their goalie tandem of Noah Rosenblum and Scott Mathews. Game ReviewThe Georgia State Panthers scurried back to downtown Atlanta after an 18-4 thrashing by the Kennesaw State Owls on February 21st. The game started out very competitive for both teams. The high powered offense of the Owls was led by Tim Minick's 5 goals and Scott Schulze's effort of 4 goals and 3 assists. Midfielder Justin McKay had a break out game for the Owls going 4 and 2. Kennesaw State's game plan to contain the Panthers lead players worked perfectly. The defense kept all GSU offensive threats in check all afternoon long. Close defenders Matt Bryne, James Faucette and Murray Webb rose to the occasion playing extremely tough on the Panthers. Goaltender Noah Rosenblum turned away 8 of 12 shots. This was a divisional victory for the Owls inthe SELC. KSU has run its record to 5-0. Game ReviewThe Kennesaw State Owls crushed the Moccasins form UT-Chattanooga on February 22nd 19-1. The game was the second in two days for KSU. Twelve different players scored for the Owls. Game ReviewThe Kennesaw State Owls traveled to Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. They defeated the Paladins 16-5 on a very messy and wet afternoon February 28th. The contest stayed close during the first quarter but the Owls opened up with a barrage of shots on the Furman goalie. KSU held a 12 -4 advantage at half time and coasted to the win during a deluge of cold rain. Leading the scoring for the KSU squad was Charles Roland with 5 goals and 2 assists. Teammate Justin McKay continued his inspired play from the previous week with 2 goals and 2 assists. Attackman Brian Broe added three tallies in the win. Defensively, the Owls floundered at times with breakdowns and lapses in coverage. Goalie Noah Rosenblum stopped 9 of 14 shots. KSU has compiled a record of 7-0 with two divisional victories. a big challenge arises this weekend against the Crimson Tide of Alabama. GAME RECAP | |||||

Game ReviewThe Crimson Tide from the University of Alabama rolled into the "Owls Nest" on the KSU campus only to limp back to Tuscaloosa after a 17-3 defeat. The Kennesaw State Owls scored with 6 seconds into the game and never looked back. Leading the scoring were Tim Minick's 3 goals and assist, followed by Justin McKay's hat trick. Other KSU players that had two goals apiece included Brain Broe, Jimmy Nassur, Isom White and Alex Herrmann. KSU goalie Noah Rosenblum stopped 7 of 10 shots. Alabama goalie William Jackson stood tall for the Tide stopping 16 of 37 shots on cage. KSU has run record to 8-0 this spring. Photos

Game ReviewThe SCAD Bees quickly stung the KSU Owls with an early 4-1 first quarter lead on March 22 at the KSU campus. The Owls regrouped and answered back. KSU held 10-5 lead at intermission. SCAD's John Healy(4-1) delivered another stellar game for the Bees but the Owls hung on to win a toughly contested game 13-11. Leading the KSU Owls were Scott Schulze with 4 goals and 1 assist. Midfielders Charles Roland 's 3 goals and Jim Nassar's 2 goals came just at the right times for the Owls. Both goalies, Carlos Marquez for SCAD and Noah Rosenblum for KSU turned in a terrific outings stopping point blank shots throughout the afternoon. This was KSU's first victory over SCAD during their four year history. KSU always holds SCAD and Coach Mike Cummings in high regard. Game ReviewThe KSU Owls traveled to Tampa and defeated the Tritons of Eckerd College 15-9. Eckerd scored the first goal and gave the Owls an early challenge but the KSU offense woke up and led by halftime 6-2. Leading the scoring for the Owls were Scott Schulze and Charles Roland. KSU goalie Scott Mathews directed the Owl defense making scoring tough on the Tritons all day long.. KSU wishes to thank the Eckerd College Tritons for their hospitality during the trip to Tampa. Game ReviewThe University of North Florida Ospreys hosted the Owls from Kennesaw State on March 29th. The battle of the birds resulted in a 15-4 win for the Owls of KSU. KSU played a complete game for the first time all season since their victory over Georgia State back on February 21st. Goaltender Noah Rosenblum made 10 saves on 14 shots and the Owl defense looked hungry all day long. Offensively, Scott Schulze and Charles Roland continued to score well for the Owls. The KSU will face their toughest opponents the next two weekends playing Tennessee Wesleyan and Emory. Both these games have playoff implications for those teams involved. Game ReviewThe Kennesaw State Owls suffered their first loss of the season against the Bulldogs of Tennessee Wesleyan 15-5 on April 4th. Not much went the Owls way that day. TW dominated faceoffs and ground balls all day long. Coach Ken Byers made adjustments throughout the game but the Owls never mounted a challenge to the Bulldogs. The Owls were completely stymied by TW goalie John Lemonie heroic point blank saves. The loss puts the Owls in a desperate game against the high powered Emory Eagles on April 10th. GAME RECAP | |||||

Game ReviewThe Kennesaw State Owls lost to SELC powerhouse Emory Eagles 13-9 on April 10th. KSU scored the first goal of the game but Eagles were too strong at home playing on the beautiful stadium field on the Emory campus. Leading the Owl scorers was midfielder Charles Roland with five goals. KSU goalie Noah Rosenblum tried to keep it close by making 15 saves on 28 shots. KSU's poor shooting continued in this game with 24 of 46 shots off cage. The game was a classic battle between local rivals. The Owls wish Coach Dave Reed and his Eagles best of luck in the upcoming SELC playoffs. The season ends for KSU with a record of 11 wins and 2 losses. This is the best season on record for the Owls. A promising amount of recruits have already shown interest in this upcoming program in the SELC. The Owls want to thank their loyal fans for their support all year long at home games and on the road.
